Wasn't it called "VIROL?"..........before my gghhhhh......time.

Probably there is an equivalent, but why should it be required now?
It was Virol, not a medicine but a vitamin preparation, malt extract I think. It came in jars & our mums gave us a spoonful in a morning to build us up. As I remember it tasted quite nice but it was a very thick sticky consistency & stuck all around your mouth. Not available any more.
Robinia.....I was a thin "pewny" insignificant kid (now I am just an insignificant adult;-)) and the people who brought me up fed me with Virol, Radio Malt and worm cakes, which were bloody awful and there was no evidence that I even had worms....LOL

Anyway I seem to have survived.
Yes Sqad I had all of those..except the worm cakes (!)...unless they were heavily disguised? We survived with only a handful of remedies, a jar of Vicks, a tin of zam-buk and some little liver pills was about all you needed...
We also has neat Iodine which my granddad kept in a bottle and he used the bottle stopper to apply the neat Iodine...I can still hear my screams:-)

We also had Andrews Liver Salts which was a powder, but effervesced when added to water.....grandma said that I had to drink it whilst it was effervescing otherwise it didn't work.....LOL
Ooooops ...just remembered "bread poultices" which had to be applied at temperatures no lower than 100deg C......LOL Thees were applied to boils to "draw them"
I can remember that horrible tasting fizzy water, sqad.
I just looked it up and apparenly Virol is still available in some branches of Holland & Barrett
secsee.....thanks, the thought of that has just ruined my day.
yummmmmm yes.....malt extract in Boots; am a regular inbiber!
Andrews is still widely available; feels good after indigestion.

Here lie the bones of Ernie Peltzer
Who died while drinking Alka-Seltzer.
Gone at last to his heavenly rest
He should have waited till it effervesced.
tambo....can't you buy it in jars?
jno....:-)
What about...."Doctor Parkinson's Pink Pills for Pale People"......anybody remember those?
not in my Boots - 'cause I have it all!

Yes, you can - same dark jars in Boots. Get it in now to build up and avoid the flu!
School started its day with dosing boarders up with .......... liquid paraffin? Ugh - cruelty to kids; nickable today!
tambo ffs it was a joke.....can get it in Boots..........can't you get it in jars?........joke.....Boots..........jars....
....never
mind.
Who started this ? :o) that lot are enough to put you off your lunch..Andrews, Alka -sltzer etc ugghh! ...and milk of magnesia! noooo
