Swine Fly.
Definitely.
salla....why can't she open her mouth though?
Question Author
Do you really think it is, and why cant i open my mouth, could it be due to the sinus problem, my jaw feels so tight.
well, that symptom is a bit odd. Maybe that's just incidental, but everything else fits. The jaw aches, as in most parts of the body ache?

Just drink loads of fluids and dose up with Paracetamol. Maybe Ibuprofen would help the jaw and teeth ache. Go to bed, wrap up, drink and, if you can, read lots of books to take your mind off things.
tamirra....salla is certainly correct.
Ild say just flu
Does swine 'fly' affect you differently than other types of seasonal flu. Funnily enough I had a very similar sounding set of symptoms back in early temptember, including jaw hurting and stiff. I felt dreadful but just put it down as a flu type virus. Am having my jab on Saturday. Perhaps I have already had Swine Flu.

I will definatly do that, what worries me is that i was with my 2 year old grand-daughter yesterday, also my daughter who is asthmatic, and mother who is too, but also has had in the past bronchitus and phumonia ( sorry cant spell those two} what is there chances of getting it?

I'd say the recent rise in swine flu is because people with flu are calling docs and it is being registered as wine flu.
woops I mean swine flu although I often have wine flu on a sunday morning
hey sqad, salla, can i just ask if you think i have it then. Felt ill with threatening cold for 2 weeks, then had 2 days unable to move from bed or settee and a high fever. Then 2 days ok with just sore throat and cough. today i am back to feeling achey and shakey again. Could sleep for weeks, given the chance

Ltlle CRX saturday fine, sunday bringing everything up for 12 hours, temp through roof but just about controllable. 3 days of that and now he just has terrible cough and slight temp.

baby CRX started today with high temp (not as bad) but has slept most of day.

Mr CRX has had mild symptoms of a cold, but today has very stiff neck.

what have we got thats lasting so long? can SF do this? or anything else linger for so long

red.....one cannot be 100% sure, but those symptoms do indeed sound viral, almost certainly swine flu.
I have to agree that most of the 'swine flu' reports we are getting at our surgery are more than likely the ordinary 'flu bug that strikes every winter. Let's face it - unless those who say they have swine flu have a swab to confirm or refute it - it's all just guesswork, they don't know for sure. One of my 'girls' went off yesterday with swine fly - the BF, bless his little heart, has rang the flu hotline, ticked all the tick boxes and has been given a collection code for Tamiflu (not going to his place this weekend.....!)

Truth is - whether it's swine or ordinary, tamirra is feeling rough. Same advice re fluids, paracetamol & ibuprofen apply. don't worry about passing it on tamirra - if your family do get it - it doesn't necessarily mean they will have caught it from you xxxx
I agree 4get. How can you diagnose swine flu over the phone. Everybody with flu this year will think it's swine flu.

Red, yes a bout of seasonal flu can make you feel in for quite a time. Some people suffer from weeks and it can make you feel really washed out for ages. I remember Asian flu in the 60's - I thought I was dying!!!

Trouble is nowadays people with a heavy cold often describe it as flu. You really know it if you have flu proper.
tamirra........being unable to open your mouth is called ....trismus.

I haven't known it with viral infections, but it is common with tonsillitis.
p.s. I'm having my jab tomorrow. I'm in the 'at risk' category - hey, what's new ?!!!
flu or swine flu, doesnt matter as i havnt called pandemic line and wont be getting tamiflu.
Was more worried about how long this feeling can go on for. Have never felt like this with a cold. and i dont have usual cold symptoms of runny nose etc.
I too am in the 'At Risk' category as is Mr LL. Surgery has received enough vaccine for 500 people so it was first come first served for the 1200 patients on the highest risk category.
