Following on from a cough and chest infection I've pulled my rib muscles which hurt every time I cough or take a deep breath - any quick cures or helpful suggestions (other than not coughing or breathing!)

Keep warm, avoid too much exercise for a while and take ibuprofen every four hours. The ibuprofen will help with any inflammation. You can take paracetamol at the same time to help with the pain. I've recently been in the same situation and it does take some time to ease. Also try a heat pad against your ribs whilst you are sitting/laying down. No simple cure I'm afraid - just time.
