It's a rather soggy Friday. Still, it's better than snow, although 'they' tell us we could have some more this weekend! I hope not! On that happy note :-) Have a good day everyone.

Morning DF. The car needed a wash! It's stopped now, how long for remains to be seen! How are you today?
the rain woke me up at 3 am still raining but not as heavy. just had the last of the ham with mustard for brekkie.
Question Author
That's what I call a brekkie! I'm getting short of Tewksbury mustard and our local Tesco hasn't got it in at the moment. The manager there is not very good. It seems that popular brands of any given item get replaced with Tesco own label. I don't know what planet he/she is on, but he/she needs to buck his/her ideas up. A new Sainsbury's is opening in a couple of months. I know they do stock it, and all the other items I like. I won't be forced into buying own label rubbish because it's the only one stocked. I don't know if that's legal, i,e, lack of choice.
i like to buy from small firms but the only one asda had was this one . this is an asda own brand , think it was £1-38

Question Author
That is indeed Asda own label. The one I buy is ELSENAM. They invented it. Can't remember how much it is, but it's not expensive.
will be keeping my eyes open for other brands now. will be sticking to english mustard on my black puddings though.

The Tewksbury goes well on black pudding. Our local butcher makes his own. he also makes his own sausages, pies and alsorts of things. He has more local and national awards and medals for his sausages and pies than enough! they are on shelves all round the shop. but more importantly, he knows how to look after his customers. He is always busy.
we had a good deli in droylsden,he had 5 girls working in the shop always people in buying. tesco opened up nearby and the shop went downhill. with less customers is meat was not fresh and the last time i went in he had 1 girl serving with him.
he used to sell pickles from the oldham pickle company , the best i have ever tasted , he had one jar left and i thought my luck was in till i got home opened the jar and they did not taste the same the jar was out of date by about 6 months. never been back in since. do not know if it is still open as i have not gone to the shops there for well over 12 months.

That is quite often the case. There will be three supermarkets to choose from in spring when Sainsbury's opens, but our butcher's trade will not be affected. He has a large, loyal customer base. He has people coming from as far away as Rutland! He can also deliver nationwide.
