Apparently my Heart is showing signs of left ventricular hypertrophy.

Is this damage reversible?

All this means is that the left side of the heart is larger than normal and the answer to your question depends upon the reason for the LVH.

Yes, depending upon the cause, it may return to normal.

My Blood Pressure has been slightly high for some time and they say this has caused this enlargement.

Obviously I am taking action to lower the BP but I forgot to ask the Doctor if the damage can be reversed or simply halted.

Hypertension is the commonest cause of LVH and if the BP is treated adequately then the heart may return to normal, but will certainly not get any larger.

So to answer your question, then yes the hypertrophy can be reversed.

Just had another thought......the addition of a diuretic to your BP tablets may also help your.LVH........your GP's decision though.

Thanks very much for your contribution.

I have been trying to get my BP down naturally for some time and my test results have always shown no apparent damage. Now I have this anomaly it is time to start medication.

I will mention your comment about diuretics to the GP when I next visit.
