Long lasting cold

Morning, is it normal for a cold to last nearly a week and be just as bad now as it was at the start, or could i have caught another cold on top of a cold, i feel rough and just want to feel better, im on antibiotics for ear infection as i asked yesterday if these were working as my ear is still bad, i was advised that i might need a stronger dose, or might have to wait until the course is finished, why do you think the cold wont go. Thanks.

It's a cold, you're just tired, rest and it will it clear up.
It's nothing serious, it's a cold, what do you think it is if it's not a cold?

The whole of the UK has got colds at the moment.

You should be taken into a laboratory and analysed Ummmm.

You never get colds, so you are either a fantastic mutation that we need to learn from, or you are an alien.

It is quite strange. My kids don't get them either. I do get a runny nose when I go out in the cold :-)

Yeah i know its a cold, but a cold normally starts to get better, three days coming, three days here and three days going, but its NOT! Its just as bad now as it was when it first started, thats whats im saying.

Yeah but its no better, it should be coming to the end of it now, with 2 days left.

i had one one 2 weeks ago caught it on the train was fine when i got on by the time i got off i thought i was dying!

had it till the week after and just went as quickly as it came,did not feel as if it was getting better just worse every day ,just goto bed and rest should be away in no time hopefully

Afternoon tamirra - I have had my head cold for 2 weeks now - and still feel like sh!te.
My legs are aching, my head is muffed up. I think because the weather is so awful, our immune systems seem to take longer to blow away these bugs.

A cold should last for 10days....if it lasts longer, there is a reason which is usually secondary bacterial infection and/or sinusitis.

Antibiotics are the choice here, but also a nasal decongestant....sudafed or a decongestant nasal spray.

Mine usually last less than a week, but whatever strain I had over Christmas lasted three weeks, and ended with a dose of antibiotics for an ear infection!
