Hi all

Well, my evil tonsils were taken out Monday, and I came out of hospital on Tuesday morning (lovely). Am in lots of pain now, as I expected, I've got horrific earache and obviously my throat is very sore. I managed some toast Monday night and have been eating as normally as possible since. However, the entire back of my throat now is almost totally grey/white. Does that sound as it should be?

Thanks!

Cannot comment on how it should look, but glad you`ve got it over with and good luck for a speedy recovery.

Thanks all. It's still really sore this morning, but I've been eating my toast and cornflakes and breadsticks - no ice cream for me!

Thanks for your well wishes and advice

I`ve never understood why you have to eat all things that must be agony to swallow, can anyone explain the point of it?
Oh, and I hope you feel better for it very soon.
carlton...yes I can.

The pain in the throat and earache is due to the spasm of the muscles of the palate.

Relieve the spasm and the pain will slowly go. Eating soft foods e.g ice cream etc, does nothing to work the palatal muscles as it just "slides down"
Solid food must be swallowed by muscular action and this relieves the spasm of the muscles of the palate.

Some people thing that it is to do with the fact that solids "clean" the throat which then relieves the pain.............not so.
