I have been considering changing from the mini pill to the implant. I have done some research but was curious to know if anyone has had one or is currently using one. I have a 2 year old and for the next few years at least I absolutely and categorically don't want to get pregnant again, I am apprehensive about using one only for the reason that it seems almost to good to be true; that once it's in the arm you just forget about it for 3 years. I am worried that they will put a faulty implant in my arm. Anyway, your thought on this device would be appreciated. TIA

can always consider the depot (IM injection) contraceptive - same thing but gets painlesssly injected into your bum every 11 weeks. that way you could try out the medciation, it being less intrusive and shorter lived if it goes wrong. i have the depot and the side effects i have experienced are weight gain :-( and no periods at all :-). swings and roundabouts really. but i would go for the shorter acting first before to see how it affects you. good luck x

Thank you for your response. I have to say that I was put off by the injection due to its possible side affects. It's a tough one. Thanks anyway x
I've got the implant. Best thing I've used so far. I haven't had a period since it went in, no side effects, no weight gain, no PMT or teary days, no bloating no pain.....and completely worry free.

I have to get mine taken out soon as my 3 years are nearly up. Well, tomorrow actually but I'v gone and made lunch plans. I'll get back to you on how easy it is to get it out.

Thanks Ummm. I decided to go for the implant and had it fitted today. Hopefully I will be similar to you and have no side effects. The procedure was fine and pain free so all good so far x
Good luck :-)

Happy no worry sexy times.....
