Blood tests for thyroid, cannot come back negative.

Have you had thyroid tests?
It took 3yrs for the doctors to find I had underactive thyroid, cos it was 7.500 and they waited to see if it went to 10,000 (this is in Spain, prob different elsewhere) and I have no idea why they were testing me as I didn't feel too bad, just tired and putting on a bit of weight. Think it came up on a routine blood test!

MY GP SAID THE BLOOD TESTS WERE FOR THYROID FUNCTION
Ok, then your thyroid levels were within normal limits......not an over active thyroid and not an under acting thyroid...........normal, so you would not benefit from thyroxine.
can you find the caps lock key on your keyboard and unlock capitals, YOU ARE SHOUTING ALL THE TIME
Lol, Ive had turn down the volume several turns.
sounds more like type2/3 diabetes to me.
Fine line between over and under I'm afraid .Even the lowest dose either way can make you either hyper or lethargic .You are probably what they call borderline .I am very much under and take 225 mcg thyroxine daily .
If you are not happy seek a second opinion .GP's are loathe to prescribe thyroxine on borderline results .Has your GP said you are borderline ?
Sometimes you just need an extra boost if your thyroid levels are low .Try kelp .
As an aside do you have throat pain or any swelling in the pit of your throat ?
Swelling can be signs of a goitre which is thyroid related .
I take 150mg of irbesartan/hidroclorotiazida daily and levels are now normal (I'm checked every 6 months) and have taken this for 2 yrs now and they want to change it, but I feel so well on it.
netbiza...I am a little confused....your medication is for Hypertension, NOT under active thyroid.

Have I grasped the "wrong end of the stick?"
You're confused? How do you think I feel, this is what I'm told I have and that is the medicine I take. I'll ask the specialist when I go in May. I have changed the specialist as wasn't too pleased with my last one. My result for 2008 was autoinmunitat - tirodal (TPO) 94.19 and diagosties as hipotirodisme (of course it's probably in catalan, but won't change the diagnosies.)
In other words I have Hashimoto's disease.
Hang on, that's my blood pressure medicine! for thyroid I take Eutirox 50mg. It is Levotiroxina!!Sorry for getting confused! Getting old!
Well done sqad, you certainly know your stuff and no it wasn't a test!!
netbiza.....I know how you feel......I am knocking on for 30 now and I get confused.....................mainly about my age LOL
I always thought Sqad knows his stuff. :-)
Oh gosh I'm knocking on 25 !! It's the lifestyle here !
My dear!Do not say this, just go improve the health.Go fasting, abandon animal products from Your disgustingly unhealthy diet, etc.THAT'S when You can be cured, trust me!
I am a vegan, only drink water, do not smoke , walk an hour a day at a fast rate, sleep for 7 hours a night, what else can I do?
I went through the same thing, I felt so exhausted I was actually falling asleep driving, I felt so cold all the time even when it was hot outside, my skin was so dry. I got to a point where I just thought I was dying I had gone to several Doctors they thought I had depression. I did take what the doctor said to take depression pills.. I still felt so bad. I went to a another doctor, when I walked in and sat down with him he said after reviewing your problems I want to check your thyroid. He looked at my throat area. He said you have a thyroid goiter and he sent me to the hospital for tests. I had hypothyroidism . I had my thyroid removed. I still have never felt like I have the energy that I once had ,I found this supplement that I would recommend to anyone who might have had thyroid surgery or feel like there thyroid is not functioning properly. This supplement has given me my life back. I feel so much better. It took about 4 months but I feel the best I have felt in years. Ill give you the link . I hope this info was helpful. Maybe you need a supplement. http://www.squidoo.com/THYROID_HEALTH_ Media URL: http://www.squidoo.com/THYROID_HEALTH_
