Hi my husband has just been told by the hospital that he has a spinal problem due to a terrible car accident 22 years ago where he rolled his car 8 times, he has problems with his L1 - L3 we have now got to wait for an appointment for him to have steroid injections into these lumba joints, and i was wondering if anyone else had had the same and what was the outcome, did the pain stop, or was there any ease of pain afterward, or just didnt help in anyway. Thank you. PS and if sqad is about what do you reckon on the procedure. Thanks again

I had steroid injections into the spaces between my ribs a few years ago. They were very painful injections and unfortunately provided no pain relief for me whatsoever.
I have no idea whether injections into the lumbar spaces work better or not, maybe it varies from patient to patient. Good luck to your hubby though, I hope it works for him!

Thank you daffy, sorry they didnt work for you, i think its got to be quite a serious procedure as he has to have a week off of work, also he cant fly 6 weeks before or 6 weeks after the op as he may get blood clot, they will sedate him but wake him during the procedure so he can tell them if the pain is where they need to inject but he wont remember anything once he fully recovers, dont like the sound of it to be honest with you. xx
I do know a few people this has worked to some degree for tamirra, apart from myself the only other person I know who had no benefit at all from the injections was my sister, she subsequently had to have surgery and spent 6 weeks laid flat on her back in hospital.

Oh dear Daffy did she, hubby wont be happy with doing that, lets hope it dosnt come to that then. xx

daffy did she have any side effects at all after the injections, did she have as many as my hubby is having if its his L1-L3 lumbars?
She had no side effects other than worsening of pain once the local anaesthetic had worn off at the injection sites. I'm not sure which bones/joints she had them into but I do know it was her lower back, she now has a scar about 12 inches long from her coccyx (sp) upwards along the spine, she had some bone grafting and fusing done to stabilise her spine. Her injury was a work related one, she damaged it lifting a client in a care home.
Unfortunately even that operation didn't ease her pain but it does mean she doesn't have to spend her life in a wheelchair. Hers was an extreme case though and I know of others with worse injuries who are pain free and fully mobile after the injections!
