I've seen your posts n think (hope) you might be able to help - my left ear is pap - can't hear thro it, docs tell me there's nothin wrong (done the olive oil n otex) but my old GP gave me a spray (otomize?) that sorted it out, new GP won't give me it, it feels like I've got my finger in my ear all the time, feel dizzy n disorientated, nurse says there's nothing to justify syringing, I'm at a loss...please can u help?

Halifax..... ....you have impaired hearing in your left ear and nobody is searching for a diagnosis. NONSENSE. Go back to your GP and ask for an appointment to see an ENT surgeon who will expose your left ear to a barrage of audiometric tests.

When I was a child I've had this blocked-ear feeling and my grandmother said it might be air in the ear. She threaded a grain of garlic (a grain that would fit snugly in the ear-hole) and stuck it in the ear, fastening the thread around the ear. I went to bed with it and next morning when she removed the garlic I felt a very sharp pain and the release of warm air. The pain went away.
Another thing she told me to do was to take my thumb and index finger and lightly pinched my nostrils closed, then swallow. When I swallowed I felt air coming out of my ear and that was a bit painful too. But it worked.

I'm pepping you for when the good Doc arrive:
If you don't mind, how old are you?
Did you have your blood pressure checked? Was it on the low side?
Have you been exposed to loud noises recently?
Are you taking any type of medication?
Do you suffer from any other type of ailments?
How is you thyroid working? Do you know if it's over or under active?

My partner woke up deaf (3years ago) similar symptoms! After lots of tests, mri etc he was told that a virus had attacked his inner ear (LABRYNTHITUS)....he is still deaf but has adjusted well! All the dizzyness cleared up quickly.however he does have a constant buzz in his ear but he can cope with this.
