I have severe pain, swelling and collapse of the knees when I walk at distance. I was in receipt of mobility allowance, department of works has stopped my payment because they said I can walk 400yards. I intend to appeal again their decision. how do i go about appealing?
in the letter they have written you, it should tell you how to appeal - you just need to read it.
Alternatively ring their helpline (number will be at the top of the letter)
the whole crux will be, can you walk 400 yards? if so then you are not entitled, which is why they have removed the allowance
It occurs to me that this sort of measure just discourages those with health problems from trying. Try hard and you get penalised, give up easily and you don't get the stress.
doesn't matter if you can sometimes walk 400 metres on a good day if you can only walk say 150 on a bad one. Make sure you get your GP/physio or whoever to write a statement in support of this especially regarding any pain and risk of injury due to the joint giving way, How do they know you can walk 400 yards has someone seen you and shopped you?
It isn't just that a person can walk 400yds, it is how long it takes them to do so.
If it would take you significantly longer than an able bodied person to walk that far and you were in severe pain/discomfort then you are still entitled to mobility allowance.
