blocked gland in inner thy are

around two years ago oh had a blocked gland that raised up into a hard lump which was drained. It has now come back sometimes it isnt as raised other days he says it is very painful he is making another doctors appointment .I just wondered if anyone knew why this happens?

"Inner thigh" goes from the knee to the groin.

Be more specific, is this swelling in his groin?

Unusual..............almost certainly an abscess from an infection.

Big question.....is the abscess in a lymph gland ( very unlikely) or is it in a sebaceous gland ( more likely).

When the above is known then I will be able to tell you why it recurs.

Well, if you are sure, then i do not know what is causing it to recur. If pus comes out, then this can be sent away for culture which will then give us a clue.

last time he had an overnight stay in hospital .The lump was drained and left quite a deep small hole that was open , it comes and goes but not as bad as it is now. It feels like a thick piece of fatty tissue under the skin inflammed to look at and is about the length of my index finger and around an inch thick, but on other days its not as raised?

no pus at all like i said its a hard lump thats all

Well, I would have thought that this "thick piece of fatty tissue" needs excising and biopsying when the abscess is drained and the infection settled.

docs appointment made but not till next week !!!!
do you think it could possibly be a blocked sweat gland ?
i think this is what lymph nodes are?

Lymph nodes are lymph nodes.
Sweat glands are sweat glands.
My money is on it being a sweat gland despite what you say.

My sister had a very painful lump in the groin & as sqad says it was an infected sebaceous gland. Is it red?
