what is NL1? (or sounds like)

a oregnant person i know has been told they need a scan to assess if their baby has the condition NL1 because both the perents do. does anyone know what condition this is? i've never heard of it and the seach engine hasn't thrown anything up.

why don't you just ask her - after all if she has the condition, she will know about it
My knowledge of genetics is sketchy at best but the NL1 gene is present in many, mainly neurological disorders like autism and neurofibromatosis (lumps in the skin attached to nerves). A blood test is required to identify this abnormal gene, but a scan of the foetus may show the presence of heurofibromas.
