sore, swollen jaw

Eating lunch the other day my left jaw joint felt sore and my cheek puffed up like a hamsters! The pain and swelling have gone down slightly but the left side of my face still looks puffy and lopsided. I can put up with the pain in the joint but does anyone know how to reduce the swelling? I am going out tomorrow/today and it looks funny!
Many thanks.

Put ice on it?
it is your jaw or you lymph glans belowthat are swollen, that can seem like swollen jaw if it is your glans your body could be fighting an infection, are you otherwise in good health?
Do you have any idea what's causing it ?
Sounds like a root abscess to me - you need an anti inflammatory IMO eg. Ibuprofen for now, and a visit to the dentist if it is one.

Tee hee hee "...if it is your glans" :-)
Someone explain why I'm giggling please.
sorry glands.....
...btw - you're not supposed to take ibuprofen if you have asthma or stomach ulcers.
..which means something COMPLETELY different W..T ;-)
I know why you're giggling, but I won't explain. Let them Google it.
ok just looked up that word tee hee
First thing comes to mind is infection. Don't delay, see you dentist or GP at your earliest.

Thanks everyone. My teeth and health are fine but (confession) I was chewing on a large handful of very chewy jelly beans at the time it happened so I may have sprained or 'cricked' the joint! I will take some ibruprofen now and see what it's like later today.
It is not an infection, it is probably a stone in your salivary gland....Parotid or Submandibular depending upon where the swelling is situated. It will probably cause trouble every time you eat.Monitor the situation for a few days as you could well pass the stone into your mouth.

As for the swelling, try Ibuprofen.
I have a stone in my saliva gland. It's never caused me a problem until my wisdom teeth started to come through.

(according to the dentist)
