41 Answers
ewww... I'm really not good with sicky stuff, but my 13 yr old was going at it like a good un for most of last night :o/
he's not eaten anything yet today, has managed to keep down some water and asked for Ribena, so he's kept down (so far) a very weak Ribena.
should he have some lunch (if he wants it)? what should I give him?

Jth, jnr was kept on a liquid diet for 'the following day' and then I used to give him Coley mashed into potatoes (very little milk or butter) the day after that - it's light on the stomach.
He happily tells everyone, now, about how I used to starve him and then feed him fish for weeks when he was ill.............:o/

Do you not have any dyoralite in, we used to swear by that, Ribena is a bit sugary, coke is good for an upet stomach as it restores the electrolite balance.
Don't give him food yet as it will feed the bug but ummm is right about dried toast, though all it us is bung him up incase the sickness travels to the lower bowel (I think)

Hi sara,
Dry toast with maybe just a little bit of butter...not too much, or cream crackers ( the same )........try to get him to drink water only, so as not to de-hydrate.....no ribena or juices until the feeling of sickness goes away too. Hopefully wil feel better by tonight....could be just a 24hour tummy bug.....
Hope the little fella gets well soon, sweetheart :0) xx

well my son was in hospital a few years back after having a fit I was chatting to the doctor about him being sick a few days before, the conversation touched on dealing with sickness, the doctor said matter of factly that there was nothing wrong with eating and drinking as normal as it encouraged the body to bring up the bug (obviously by being sick) abstaining and sipping water only prolonged the misery.
"coke is good for an upet stomach as it restores the electrolite balance."
Im sorry dotty but just where did you get this fact from?
Whatever you do sara3 please do not use dotty's untrue and unsound health advice, Coca Cola does not restore electrolyte imbalances and is a useless sugary and acidic drink which contains caffeine which is a diuretic which will further flush his body from much needed water as he is now doubt suffering from dehydration.
Sara3 what exactly is the problem with your son? Why is he vomiting?
