hi i was on here a while back saying my 84 yr dad had to have one....he has just had it a week ago... he lives on his own but i did stay with him for 5days afterwards... he has also been startting to be very forgetful and conffused for the past 5 month or so.......he dosent really understand he has had an operation even tho i have kept telling him to and i think he understands now but the thing is how long after having this op should it be sore for..... when i saw his wound when the nurse took the dressing off she was pleased with it and all the bruising is going now... but he said on the phone that its sore but not sure if its him being conffused im just worried he may have pulled the wires out as i keep remiding him to keep his arms down but he forgets
If in any doubt mention it to the District Nurse team , you should have a number. He may just be very aware of it and has been quite a trauma for him and you of course.
Never be afraid to ask.
ok thanks you have put my mind at rest x.... he has a follow up appointment in 5 weeks time even tho he gets confussed and forgets he is fit as a lop and he walks 3 times a day totallying more than five miles ive told him to just go on short walks but he dosent listern its his routine and has been for years you just cant get him to take it more easy lol
He will have a card with the pacemaker details on it; you should make sure that this is kept in a safe place, because it will be needed whenever he has a pacemaker check. The card is approximately credit card size.
i think he has recieved one in the post.... the problem with dad is he wears different coats so really giving him a card is pretty useless especially as he dosent understand he needs to carry it with him everywhere he goes and the problem with his forgetfulness and confussion...
