You'd need a specialist medical diagnosis.

If you had it, you'd be prone to sudden and inappropriate outbursts of obscenities (that's my reply without Googling, btw).

If swearing every other word is the main symptom then half this street is suffering(?) from Tourettes. Not to mention the district, or even the city.

its not always that simple mrs c, some people just have bodily tics rather than shout obscenities, his GP would be his best bet if he wants to get referred for assessment.

It's not just about swearing....actually, I think swearing is quite rare. It's more likely to involve ticks (sp)

The coprolalia (swearing) is only present in a minority of Tourettes sufferers, the twitching (tics) are more of a characteristic of the condition.

and you would be aware of the tic and even if you try not to do it eventually the urge would be too great ....

Sure I don't have Tourettes, but some people think that I have! Last year, in a crowded local garden centre, I was being seriously bothered by a wasp (I have a serious fear of these nasty things) at one stage I was waving my hands in the air and yelled (Fxxx Oxx) very loudly, to the horror of an elderly group of ladies! Never felt so embarrassed! The wasp DID "FO" and now I always laugh when I am in the same spot.......so am probably considered mental!
