i have a rather nasty cold/cough and its been suggested that dairy products increase mucous and that by avoiding them this will relieve some of the symptoms

i'm nosing about on line and can see quite a few references to it but has anyone tried this any opinons?

and any idea on how to get a decent nights sleep when i can't stop coughing :-(

i've just read this remedy, it made me laugh so much i had a major coughing fit in the office and was nearly sick!

thanks tiggs i;ve got benylin chesty cough stuff and cold tablets and iboprufen (in case sqads about) tiger balm and some herbal sweet things

arlic on my feet. Yes, you read right. Here’s what I do: I crush a few garlic cloves, put them in a little jar or bowl, and cover it just so in olive oil.

In about a half hour, I rub the oil on my feet. I do this on my kids as well when they have a bad cough or they have a chest cold. For me, I also put the garlic pieces between my toes (but not for kids).

Then, I put socks on for the night and go to sleep. When I wake up, I have garlic breath, so I know it works! No kidding! Garlic enters your system and heads straight for the lungs.

Garlic is amazing for the lungs. This is a great way to fight bacterial infections. It also enhances your immune system and fights viruses at the same time! I love this garlic remedy.

i don;t have easter eggs milly, its not an issue but i didn;t think about chocolate in general hmmmmmm
Depends.

If your "nasty cold/cough is due to dairy product allergy (which is over diagnosed in my opinion) then the WATERY discharge "might " be improved.

However in the vast majority of cases where the "nasty cold/cough has absolutely nothing to do with dairy product allergy, then avoiding dairy products will have no beneficial effects whatsoever.

My mother was told this by a Nigerian doctor in the mid 1960's I'd just started school and suffered with bronchitis, he told her to keep me off milk and dairy products. So I never had to suffer warm milk at school!
Lucky you mercia. I hate milk in all forms fortunately for me (high cholesterol) and if I could have got out of drinking the free milk they gave us in junior school I would have. I tried all ways to hide the fact that I had not even tasted it but hardly ever got away with it. It's a wonder I wasn't sick.

it was the thought of no cheese that got me, i am thinking of trying it just to see i'm so fed up of being attached to a tissue and my poor sore hooter :-(
I use Night Nurse if I have a heavy cold. Tastes revolting but works for me.

its the cough that's keeping me up :-(
Night Nurse, Benylin, Phensedyl are all based on antihistamines and the key to a good nights sleep is whatever you take, double the recommended dose.
