My gran in a bad place?

Don't really know what to do. A friend of a friend swears blind she saw my gran coming out of the local gum clinic. I thought she was joking but she described her to a tea and told me what she was wearing and what her car was like parked outside.

My gran is a single and i don't think she is with anyone. Well, she hasn't said so. I am so shocked if she was in there and disgusted to be honest.

I really don't think it was a lie. So what should i do?
a) tell my gran my friend saw her in there?
b) don't say anything cause it's none of my business?
c) tell my mother?
d) ring the gum clinic pretending to be my gran and ask if my results are back?

My friend's friend has no reason to lie, thanks.

I spose I am disgusted because I can't face the thought of my single 72 year old gran having a sexual partner.

I didn't realise that these type of clinics held menopause support group things. I hope that's the reason she was there and not got an STD. I'm tempted just to tell my gran that my friend saw her at the hospital and just ask if she is ok, that way she can tell me as little or as much as she likes.

She's my gran and I am concerned for her too. Thanks for replies.

Oh and of course I wouldn't really want her prying in my private life but the world is a small place and we can't hide from everyone. Don't you find you ever bump into people when you don't want to?

But Dolly, if it is an STD and you tell her she was seen, the poor woman is going to be mortified! If she wants to talk to you she will, whether she knows she was seen or not. Let her come to you if she wants and don't humiliate her.

Definitely b), nothing of your business at all. Just because she's your gran doesn't mean she can't live life to the full, she probably doesn't want anyone to know. GUM isn't only for sexually transmitted diseases anyway! and d) no way, they don't give results over the phone, too much risk of people ringing up pretending to be their grandma.

Aside from the fact that seeing your gran at this clinic does not lead to the conclusion that she has a sexual partner, what exactly is wrong with a single 72 year old woman having a sexual partner?!

Just forget about it. If there is anything to worry about I am sure your gran will tell her family - in her own time and in her own way. Respect her privacy and her right to live the life she chooses.

As I mentioned earlier, GUM is Genito Urinary Medicine. It's also for urine-related problems.

^^PS the GUM clinic is no way a bad place, it's an excellent place - if it wasn't for them and people being brave enough to go there, all sorts of disease in the downstairs departments would be rife. I know plenty of people who work in GUM.

Dollypins, 72 is no way old these days, life is for living, it's not just for the young. Sex when older is well worth looking forward to!

zeb, that's one viewpoint but the ladies amongst us look at it very differently. Our private parts are private, not for discussing with our granddaughter. If gran wanted her to know and they are that close, she would have told her beforehand. We don't all live our lives in our family's pockets.

Dollpins, it could have been much worse. Your friend might have seen your gran coming out of the massage parlour that Wayne Rooney uses. Then you might have cause for concern.

Dolly, is it more a case of you being disgusted and worried about being the subject of gossip between your friend and your friend's friend so you want to hear from her that it's all a big mistake?
