Alopecia again...

Hello again...

My alopecia has got a lot more widespread...I now have a bit of a "monk"-style - big bald patch on the top in the middle of me head, about 4-5 inches with a little tuft in the middle. Also 1/2 and 1/2 on the sides and back... should I just shave it a la Gail Porter? Or do I carry on with this stupid monk-style?

As you are female I would say that the obvious solution is to buy a syrup. My advice to a male would be different.

Shave it Halifax, and if you have a funny shaped head get a wig (my friend shaved her head only to discover her head was all bumpy) - but if your head is fine, think sinead o'connor x

Thanks mike and karen - i could never wear a wig - me skin is too sensitive. Can hardly bear my white baseball cap - have tried a bandana, but can't bear it. Even tho Halifax junior (girl) does wear a wig every day.

I just wonder if it'd be too OTT if I shaved it off...especially as I'm trying to get a job at the mo. But I feel like I look more of a pratt with the monk-style...do i?

I am sure there must be some wig makers who make provision for people with sensitive skin. Basically, although a man can walk around with either his hair down to his arse or bald as a coot without attracting any looks, the same cannot be said of a lady.

I've not seen your head - but when mr mac and I got together he was in a denial phase and used to get his mum to trim round the bottom of his hair and he had that monk look. It took a while before I could tell him that he looked daft and offer to give him a crop. After I did, folk kept commenting on how good he looked. I know he's a guy and you're obviously not, but it's the same situation. Shave it off. If you're not confident, wear a bandana.

I say shave it also...it's a neat and fuss-free look....and quite classy on some ladies. I'd also say-if you are looking for a job,do explain why your head is shaved.
I know employers are not supposed to discriminate-but I can imagine there are those who may think you are in chemotherapy,and will therefore not see you as a long term prospect.

my sister has a (kind of) version of this, and once had treatment where a fine mesh was attached to the surrounding hair with fake hair attached.. not sure how you'd feel about that though!
