My husband has been on crutches for 2 years and is unable to bear weight on his right leg. His left leg is therefore supporting his weight. Recently his left leg has been giving way, causing him to fall. Would you expect the left leg to give way now due to wear and tear or would it have strengthened it?
He is being queried for a disease at the moment so unsure whether it's a potential symptom of that. Doctor seems to think the muscle would be stronger now.
Thanks

Unfortunately it can be the case that if a person compensates a weak limb by using the other one, the other one can have trouble. I had a similar problem with my hip, I overcompensated on the side which didnt hurt. I can't answer your question, only that this is what happened to me.

Thanks for answers.

Hmmm, he fell again yesterday, well against a wall and smacked his head. It's really worrying and getting us both down now. At least he's got the consultant next month thank god!
