My son has a nasty burn on the top of his foot due to cooking oil boiling over. We did the usual cold water treatment and he now has a splendid blister (approx 2"x1") We don't think he needs to go to A+E but is there anything else we should be doing?
If it's been under the tap for 10 minutes and doesn't feel better it needs to get A&E treatment - otherwise cover with cling film to keep infection out abnd give him pain relief
Hold it under cool water for at least 30 minutes to cool the skin or it will continue to cook. Cover with cling film or a plastic bag to reduce infetion. A doctors wife told me to put toothpaste on a burn, but it has to be toothpaste and not gel, although you may want to google that one.
I'm afraid this is too late for your son but if a burn is immediately put into a bag of flour for 10 mins without using the cold water method prior to this,I understand there is a good chance that no blister will form and the burn will be greatly relieved.
