excessive lateral pressure syndrome of knee

So, this is what is wrong with my knee- it is tilted and has worn away the cartilege underneath, causing arthritis. I need an op but wondered if anyone else has any knowledge of the operation/recovery time etc? Many thanks

Are you having an arthroscopy? If so it usually keyhole surgery where they can do repairs, clean out etc, usually takes a week/10days to recover.

kathy is quite correct in that you will be having an arthroscopy and whatever "needs doing" at the time.

it is difficult to say exactly the length of recovery time and in an uncomplicated and minimal invasive case, then kathy is correct.

However,the knee joint may remain swollen and irritable for quite some time, and the leg may lose quite a bit of thigh muscle tone and strength, which may need physiotherapy.

All this will depend upon what is found and what is done at arthroscopy.

Thanks. I saw the specialist today who seemed to think that an arthroscopy would cause more pain than I have now, since the knee has arthritis. Surely that can't be right?! Or is he just trying to cover himself?!
