Has anybody got any tried and tested home remedies for eczema. My 4 year old Grandaughter has it. She has been prescribed antibiotics and cream which help at the time but as soon as she stops it flares up again. Any help much appreciated
A friend had this problem VERY badly and read an article about Evening Primrose capsules 1000mg. She took one capsule every day and the problem went away within a few weeks so she stopped taking them. The problem returned so she started taking the capsules again and once again, the problem disappeared. That was 3 years ago and now she takes them every second day, possibly for the rest of her life . There is no cure for this but various treatments certainly help. Good luck. I don't know about giving medication to a 4 year old though. Bit drastic I suppose. Discuss with her doctor. Maybe a lower dosage would help.
See if she can be referred for allergy tests. My sister suffered with it for years - turned out that she had a dairy allergy. No dairy, no eczema! As she grew older, dairy was gradually reintroduced and she now has lovely, clear skin.
Apparently this woman was at her wits end and started making her own remedies at home, that's her website. She featured in the Mail a while ago and the business seems successful, you never know, have a gander. I remember getting eczema as a teen, awful, all over my face and the amount of potions and lotions I tried was unbelievable. Good luck.
Goldrings, your granddaughter needs a referral to a dermatologist - it might not be eczema, it might be an allergy. Not all GPs are expert dermatologists - ask her mum/dad to ask for a referral to a specialist.
If you are desperate this evening - put some oatmeal or porrige in a bowl of cold water - then strain it and dab in on the affected areas - or wrap it in muslin or similar and then soak the bag in cold water.
