I was stung by a wasp a week ago and my arm is still itching. Not all the time, but maddening all the same! There is also a very small lump under the skin. I'm not overly concerned, just wondered if its normal to still have irritation?
probably your body is isolating the poison, when your body has dealt with it then the itching should stop.......happens to me when I get a sting or insect bite!......
maybe get some 'stingeze' from the chemist, but may not work now, as the sting is not recent!...I always have the problem when I get a sting or bite!....always leaves a mark for ages too!.......
I know it sounds suspect, but here in the U.S. our smallest coin is a penny... it's made with a coating of copper (used to be solid copper). Point is, if you have such a coin or any other object of copper, wet it lightly and place it on the sting... which almost immediatley goes away. It works for me and others in our family...
That's worth remembering Clanad, will try it if I'm unlucky enough to get another wasp sting.
Btw here in the uk we have a collective term for small brown coins, "coppers"! Though I think thats becoming outdated!
Have you taken any antihistamine tablets-they will help. Two people recently I`ve come across with the result of a wasp sting, one had a bandage on as hers swelled up. She had tried bicarb but it`s vinegar for wasps that you apply on after the sting. I was so uncomfortable with mosquito bites in Florida once and someone gave me an antihistamine tablet which relieved it. Hope it improves soon.
Bicarbonate of soda is good for wasp stings.
Mix a small amount with enough water to make a spreadable consistancy, cover the sting thickly with the mixture and let it dry. leave for as long as poss.
