A TV programme about Portugal showed a male risking life and limb as he battled against huge waves, clambering on to rocks to cut away goose barnacles which are, apparently, very expensive ( also in Spain) - they can be washed up on UK shores after stormy weather abroad.  Have any Abers eaten these and how do they taste?

I saw that programme. I like shell fish but I've never tried them

I googled and apparently they taste like a cross between lobster and clam.  I'd imagined winkles or snails.

Thanks Naomi - I didn't think they were eatable until I saw that programme!

Never had them or heard of them, Haz. Sounds tasty though.

I hope the chap that risked his life, was whelk-omed  with a big fat cheque! 😃

No doubt he was full of  mussel

Michael Portillo in Portugal was the programme if anybody wants to find it on catch-up. Apparently the bloke makes his living by daily collecting the barnacles - they sell for about £75 per kilo.

I'd never heard of goose barnacles either, but, then I thought do they grow on geeses *** that spend too much time floating?

🤔

Well, they grow on ships' bottoms because they spend a lot of time in the water, so I can't see why they shouldn't grow on geese's bottoms as they also spend a lot of time in the water.

Well, a Parsons Nose is rather tasty, so now I want to try a Goose Barnacle.

Will I be disappointed?
