33 Answers
family member , has abused other member of my family, he is 63 years old, he has no previous convictions , he has applied for taxi licence and got it, can i do anything about this ? obviously council will say he has no convictions and they have to play by book but this is a family member and our family know what he has done in past.
what can be done ? the member who was abused does not want to speak out, she has lived with it all these years, we are all ashamed incase he does something and our family name is in the papers, i would stand by my family and go to police but she doe not want this for whatever reason. obviously i / we couldnt live with it if he touched a child or raped a girl or whatever.

This is the reason that anyone who has been the victim of abuse needs to speak out. I have the UTMOST sympathy with your younger sister, but she needs to have the utmost sympathy for all the potential victims that she's allowing to exist by not reporting your father- she really does need to make a report, that's ALL you can do, and in the end it's up to her.

If it is as serious as "a child's life" then the only solution is for your daughter to go to the police.
However I'm not sure that his becoming a taxi driver has significantly increased the chances of him touching a child or raping a girl. He could have done that if he wanted on the local park or anywhere- and surely he is already a risk to your own daughter. So I'm not clear why it's suddenly seems so much more urgent now.

yea nox maybe i am a" bit too confrontational" and rash , apologies, though dtcroossword ( or mary whitehouse ) is calling it "whingeing". anyway ive got my answers and got most peoples views on things and yes my sister does need to confront it head on but its been 20 years now. factor im talking about freaks and creeps ( excuse the language DT) like this ruining childs lives , not nessesarily "killing them" but you know what i mean, he will now be working and on his own ( maybe) with a drunken girl on her way home or a child whos mum has paid for him to take her to school) its ruined everyones life around my sister even her own kids and family !! apart from "him" end of story
confront him and threaten him with exposure of his abuse if goes out working as a taxi driver.
if he does goes ahead with it, and the person really doesnt want to speak out, then send an anonymous letter to the taxi firm, and council, the doubt in their minds about him should be enough to finish him taxiing, especially if all his collegues know about it.
