Hand not healing

I hurt my hand nearly four weeks ago (a large plastic clip from the walking reins got clipped in the skin between my thumb and finger and did itself up, this was made worse by thing 1 and thing 2 trying to walk away and pulling the clip whilst it was in my hand). It is not healing and is still really sore. Is there anything I can put on it to try and get it to heal quicker? Thanks.

is it infected, sherrard? You might need an antibiotic?

Hi - it's not manky but every morning when I start using my hand I seem to un-do the healing that has happened over night. I had a ceasarean (sp) it took ages to heal but I thought that might be because I was knackered! Maybe I am a slow healer.
Have you tried that Artificial Skin (I've used in on blisters which don't heal) - it provides a bit of cover over a healing wound, you just paint it on.

Thanks Boxtops, I will see if I can find some.
imo you need to pad this when it's going to be under duress - keep it clean and supple - it's when wounds get dry and split that the probs start - it's in a bad place but you really need to stop the re-opening and subsequent scabbing over all the time. Realise how difficult it is but use the other hand as much as poss and stop re-worrying it until it heals.

Thanks RSVP - I'm trying not to use it so much but it's surprising how much you use your left hand even when you are right handed.
tell me about it - know just how you feel - sounds as though it's going to be a long job but you'll get there.
If its just a surface cut New Skin should help. It stings a bit initially but you can add more coats to thicken the coverage.

Try some arnica cream - I'm not particularly into homeopathy, but this does seem to help to bring out the bruising.
