Thing 2 has hurt his finger (he did at the beach yesterday but I am not sure how he did it and he can't tell me as he doesn't speak). The whole end section is very red and the nail is bruised (light purple at the moment). Should I get it x rayed or is it probably ok? Thanks.

Can he bend it? Is he crying?

Broken bones tend to be very painful...

He isn't crying but the non-nail side of his finger is very 'angry' looking and very swollen. He says yes when I ask him if it hurts, but he can bend it.
There's not really much they can do with the tip of the finger anyway.
It sounds as though he may have trapped it somewhere.
An X-Ray is not necessary.......monitor the situation for 48 hours.
