Sqad. 8 months ago a new A&E department at PGI opened at a cost of £64 million pounds. This week they decided to close it overnight.from 10pm until 8am. So people now have to go to Pinderfields. Link attached.

The main Neurosurgical and and Cardiac units being at Leeds and Pinderfields.
Ponteract A&E is closing because adequately qualified staff cant be recruited and this is a pretty good reason to close it in my opinion.
If i had a coronary or a head injury, then my chances of survival would be enhanced if Ponterfract A&E was bypassed and the ambulance took me straight to Leeds or Pinderfields.....believe me.
It is better to have a A&e will all facilities 30 miles away rather that a substandard General Hospital 10 miles away.
Thanks for the onfo micmak

my trust spent £45m on a brand new building, want to lose 10 beds (that's 15%) and plonk a rehab centre in the middle of it. our lucky patients now leave hospital...to go back to hospital for rehab. this was previously in a beautiful rural setting by the beach...and now they're right back where they started! they're doing it to save £4.5m, have stopped things like psychotherapy for incredibly damaged patients, are concentrating on dbt and cat therapy (the sticking plasters of the psychiatric world) and want nurses to go and treat patients who would be admitted to hospital in their own homes! it's a recipe for disaster and an accident waiting to happen.
