Hi, has anyone out there had a lumbar spine discectomy, i had mine 2 weeks ago and am still in agony, pain in lower back, left and right leg!! begining to wish i had not had it done. Before my opp i could hardly walk or stand because of the pain, it's not quite as bad as before but just wondering if anyone had the same op and does the pain ease after a few weeks? Thanks in advance x

Mine did.
My Consultant explained that it can take anything up to 12 months for 'recovery'. At the end of 12months, however you feel then is pretty much how you will remain.

Be gentle with yourself, take things slowly and remember 'spine in line'.
It's still early days yet. :o)
Hello amyrose,
I had something similar. For a while I had spasms in my back that were bloody awful. I could not roll over in bed without going through hell. I take it you are taking pain killers which will help. Things do settle down but as already said it is early days. Take this as an opportunity to make some life changes that will help in the future. I did not do this and put on weight which did not help. I have now joined a gym and have started eating better.
Take care!
Much Love,
Gavin
