I have a sore throat.

That's all. Just a very sore throat. Had it since Monday and nothing has come of it.
Can you just have a sore throat? or will some other illness inevitably appear?
Just curious.
Thanks

Obviously there is no proof it helps, but colds are so awful sometimes you are reduced to trying anything.

I got one a couple of weeks ago, not long after going back on immunosuppressants so had to come off them and have blood tests and such. It felt very swollen as well and the doctor said it was red raw. I developed a horrible cold a few days later. It's been rife around work and germs just circulating.
Went back on the tablets Monday then my throat was sore again (argh!) but hit the covonia throat sweets and it's calmed down again, just hoping I've not got the cold germs again!

Most sore throats are caused by a virus and usually untreatable. If the virus takes hold it can progress further to your lungs. If you have a weak immune system it may lead onto pneumonia. Prevention is better than cure. Soon a vaccine will be available that can tackle all sorts of flu and is said to have life long immunity. Also you can have a pneumococcal jab, currently available from you GP that can prevent certain strains.
