Someone I am very fond of, who I once worked with and have stayed in touch with, has gone snooker loopy over evangelical christianity.
I have always been in awe of their spiritual commitment, but this has now resulted in their quitting a very highly paid job and attending spiritual 'training courses'. Not Scientology in case anyone asks.
During this they have effectively stopped replying to email etc.
I am sad that this nice person seems to have been hooked into some manic movement....I know I can do nothing, just thought I'd share.

sad, eh? I have step-family who went over to the "other side".. each to their own, I suppose.

so long as they're happy..
i would just keep emailing, there may become a time when they need you and if you are still making contact it will be easier for them to come to you. Rotten situation, it seems as if someone has got their claws into them.

Thanx guys - Sara, I'd say luminescently manic rather than happy....Still I suppose St Paul was the same.
Hope the family come through it.
Mr CRX had a friend who went the same way, last time we saw him he was praying for our souls (we live together and have kids) and warned us to stockpile food as the was a world famine coming.

a few months later Mr CRX called him only to be told he wont talk to us, we called his sister who said he was refusing to talk to anyone and that as we were muslims (we are not) he would never have anything to do with us.

Its sad how religions can do this to people :( I hope that your friend finds a sensible balance soon.

Thing is, I doubt it is actual juju - I think it is work-related stress.
I would drop an email once a week at the same time. It'll cost you nothing and may one day help. Otherwise not much you can do, sounds like they're having a breakdown of sorts.
My mums the same....

Oh well...

Thanks folks - I'll try and keep in touch with the sainted one in case they ever come to their senses.
