Hi all, just an update for those kind people who responded to my question a couple of weeks ago. I think this has been the most raumatic experience of my life, the Dentist (butcher) couldn't get a canular in so I had no sedation only injectins in my mouth, 19 teeth removed. The pain since has been unbelievable I now have an infection and a dry socket (whatever that is). I left hospital half an hour after the alst tooth was removed and told to take paracetamol and I would be fine. The Dr has prescribed penicillin and tramadol because the surgery was undertaken at hospital an hours drive away. I can't get my dentures in and think I have spent most of the tiem since the op on Monday crying with pain, I am so tired and in a low mood I dont know which way to turn I'm sorry this isn't really a question is it but I thought it might help me to get this off my chest a little. Take care all xx

I hope the pain eases soon and that you get a good night's sleep.
Oh well done mary, you poor thing. Hoping the pain will soon lessen now and that once you have got used to your dentures you will be so pleased x
Oh, you poor thing, I hope you feel heaps better very soon.
A dry socket is when the blood hasn't formed a clot in the socket, and the pain is simply dreadful, I really do sympathise. I think you have been very brave and send a 'get better soon' hug.
oh god mary, you poor thing.

Your story is my worst nightmare. Really really hope the pain eases for you soon.

you genuinely do have all my sympathy.

xxxxx
Poor Mary - that is such a shame. I am amazed that you were sent home so quickly. I must admit that when I had teeth out, the denture went in straight away, sore or not.... so the mouth could get used to it. Have you been back to your own dentist so he can take a look? - I think you should.
or your gp for stronger painkillers. Make sure you take paracetamol and tramadol regularly
Mary - I have had a dry socket - it is extremely painful and I sympathise with you. I got mine by rinsing my mouth out and dislodging the blood clot that forms in the gap where the tooth has been extracted, before the 24 hour period, they say you should wait.

I ended up on 2 types of antibiotics.

You are a hero for having 19 teeth removed all at the same time, and with no sedation - they would have to knock me on the head with a brick to do that to me.

I wish you better. Den xx
Poor you, I sympathise and I hope you feel better very soon.
cyber hugs and hopes for improvement - sounds dreadful - poor you
keep an eye on the dry socket - if it doesn't stop hurting soon, take it back to your dentist to check that there's no risk of infection.

I really really sympathise.
I've gone all queazy reading this :-(
Yikes!! You poor soul.. I had all my teeth taken out when I was 14 and I still have nightmares to this day (50 years later) Hope you feel better very soon. xx
not surprised, B00. My dad had all his teeth out - in those days people did it on their 21st birthday so as to save them grief later in life. The idea never appealed to me, funnily enough. I've lost a lot of mine but one at a time. jno jnr's never even had a filling, thanks to fluoride.
I still have flashbacks everytime I smell rubber - it reminds me of that gas mask the Dentist used to put over your mouth/nose to knock you out.................{:o(

poor you, really hope you feel better soon-i had a 'dry socket' years ago,I was crying so loudly my (then 9) son woke up,and came to see what was wrong (bathroom between our rooms),he got me frozen peas, and I lay on my side with peas on cheek and felt better, went to hosp (now primary care) got antibiotics, and got nurofen from chemist, the next day went to dentist-he said I had a dry socket-it didn't bleed-he cut my gum,and although yak, the pain went. try the frozen peas. x
ps it was sat overnight - why went to hosp
That is dreadful. And personally, I think unacceptable. I only had one tooth out and am still getting pain with the new denture after two months. I've been back to the dentist but get fed up with going back so I am trying to put up with it. Teeth are nothing but a problem from the time you are born to the time you lose them all. Hope it soon settles down mary - at least as you have had them all out you won't have to go through it again.
Proud of you proudmary. Your very brave and hope your gums settle down very soon. I'm just like Boo, I hate the dentist and I'm awake having nightmares when I know i have to go! Wish you lots better soon x pusskins
