Wisdom teeth

This might sound silly ...but how do you know if your wisdoms are in yet? I know some people have problems with them but im wondering if i have mine or not!?

Theres no bloody room if i havent!!!!! But today i feel like my furthers back tooth (sorry i dont remember names) its almost rubbing the upper inside if my mouth in the curve of my jaw!

I can get my finger behind it - dont feel like there is teeth coming in though xxx (age 24) xx

I think they start around 21 years of age to erupt. Pop along to a dentist for a check-up and ask:)

How many teeth do you have? Count them....

I don't know any people that got wisdom teeth without pain. Although not everyone gets them.

In case you think you're off the hook...mine are still growing (age 38)

Mine never erupted. Don't know what all the fuss is about.

mine are still growing too ummmm and i am 50 this year. Just one more to come in.

My wife is 71, and a wisdom tooth began to grow in her lower jaw late last year. At 74! So it's not just babies that suffer! The tooth had nowhere to go, because it was growing underneath an existing tooth. It caused her great pain, because she had to have a (healthy) tooth removed to make room for the d****d wisdom tooth. That meant more pain, because the roots of her teeth do not grow straight down; they grow sideways, so a straight pull by the dentist was not possible. The wisdom tooth still has not shown itself, but it often aches. My wife has been suffering both with the new tooth, and having to go to dental hospital to have the healthy tooth extracted. I hope that you have an easier time with your wisdom tooth.

The fact is most of the time they hurt. If you have no room for them they hurt even more. They make other teeth hurt because they are being pushed along. It hurts your gums, your head, your eye sockets, your ears...

Oh don't remind me Ummmm, went to hospital to get them out. The only thing that kept me going was 'it'll get better, it'll get better'

I had teeth removed to make room for mine, my sister had hers come through without a twinge... I have got a small mouth (according to my dentist)

Age 24? You are just a youngster then? It could be your wisdoms but do not have them taken out unless it is causing real pain. They are functional teeth in the end and mine have served me well.

book, I have had the same trouble as your wife.I am now 61 . Had to have a tooth taken out 18 months ago and have a wisdom tooth starting to come up. The other tooth stopped it before. Does your wife ,at times ,that last for about a week have an awful pain in her glands, in the neck. That gradually works all the way up that side until she thinks she has an ear infection.?

Awww all these horror stories!! Hope it isnt that but its weird to have a sore mouth - only one side, and my throat! I think its possibly coming from my throat!

Tinks, I was convinced mine were coming in a few years ago as the back part of my gum was killing me. I went to the dentist and he took an xray - only to tell me I didn't actually have any. I had a wee flap of gum at the back of my very back tooth and food was getting trapped down the side of it from time to time - causing the gum to swell and the pain. Now I know to make sure it's clear, I've never had any more problems.
