When to take levothyroxine

Hi,
I take levothyroxine in the morning (usually around 7am) & know not to eat for up to an hour after but I've some early shifts coming up & really don't want to be having to get up even earlier to allow that hour. If I have breakfast when I get up (about 4am), how long should I wait before taking the pills ? I probably wouldn't eat again 'til about 11am.

CW1 - the pamphlet merely says before food. I take mine a few minutes before breakfast. My thyroid test had gone from low to normal. I dont think it matters if you take it any time of day before any meal.

I was also told half an hour before food. My pharmacist told me that, and I think pharmacists are generally more relaible when it comes to details about taking medicines. He also told me to leave four hours between taking my Thyroxine and my iron tablets.

I have been taken them for some years now but can never lose any weight.! I was told if you take them an hour before food it helps to lose the weight Welllllllll I have been doing that ever since............but still no weight has come off.!! However my friend in america had the same probs not losing weight but they changed her thyroxine for a different brand and she is so thin now and looks so good.! Wish I could get them in this country. Brenda x
