Hi, I was wondering if I should tell my doctor that I I took the morning after pil recently. I got it from the family planning clinic so I presume it won't have gone on my medical record. Does my doctor need to know? I've got no problem telling them, just don't know if I need to or not.
Hi Morrisonker, I don't know if you're supposed to or not either, but if it was me, I would, just so that your GP has a complete record for future reference.
my period was normal, bang on time, although I'm sure it's different for everyone. I had a whole 3 weeks of pills between taking the MAP and my period so maybe that effected it?
Hi Morrisonker, as far as I know, your family planning records are kept separate from your GP records. The only time that your GP is informed is if, for instance you go to family planning and have a smear, and it comes back with some innormallity they will inform your GP, but that's just because your GP will need to refer you for treatment. Other than that, your records are personal with the family planning clinic.
I wouldn't bother. I can't think of any valid reason why they'd need to know before you go in for any other reason. if you're worrying about it (which you really shouldn't be) then mention it next time you go in.
