What are the horrid white lumps at the back of my throat ?
Apologies in advance for asking what some might consider a gross question ....
.... I often feel as if I have "something" stuck at the back of my throat. This is particularly noticeable as I swallow. Not painful at all but a little odd feeling and therefore unnerving all the same.
Every so often, after noticing the "stuck" feeling for some weeks, I "bring up" small off-white lumps of "matter" (size of small peas I suppose) which are irregularly shaped. This usually happens when I cough or sneeze.
Most embarrassing of all these lumps smell foul, which obviously worries me though my partner assures me I do not have bad breath !
Told you it was a gross question. Does anyone have any idea what this can be ?

what my doctor told me (and i would recomend it), is to get a glass of water and pour some salt into it. gargle the salt water 3 times a day (morning, noon and night) for a couple of days until it has gone. i will warn you though that gargling salt water is not the nicest of things to do as you get up but it really does do the trick.
i had one the a few weeks ago and did this process and it dissappeared in a matter of days... unfortunatly another came back a few weeks later (the other day)... and im repeating this process again.
ive also put it down to, if you're like me and wolf down your food, i find more cropping up at the back of your throat (after you are rid of one another appears)... when you used to hear 'chew your food'... really chew it! it really helps. with that, wash it down with water (or something very water based)... just to flush away any lurking crumbs.
as for the craters as "ummmm" mentioned about their daughter, do not worry, i had the same a few years ago when i had them... it will return to normal within a few days after the lump has dissappeared (think of it like a sponge, squeeze it and put it down... it returns to its original shape, it is just because the lump has pushed into the throat which is causing the discomfort).
hope this helps everyone out as it did for me. if problems still persist, go to your doctor.
