I believe a psychiatrist is medically trained and may treat your with drugs a psychologist isn't (may be wrong) and will be someone who can listen to your problems I'm not sure if they can give advise however and are just a listening ear there may be one type who can give advise and one who can't ! Id say it sounds like a councellor/psychologist is what you would need! Hope you get things sorted!
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who has then specialised in psychiatry, they can prescribe strong drugs if they feel it is needed. A psychologist cannot prescribe and will teach coping strategies and listen to your troubles.
