little holes at the top of your ear....

Right. Does anyone have a little hole at the top of the ear, just before the point at where the ear meets the top of your cheekbone?  My son has one on one ear, and someone whose hair I cut has one on each side. What is the significance of these? Is it some throw back to caveman days?  They serve no purpose at all. I said to my client I would ask the guys at AB!! Someone will know!! He and I eagerly await loads of sensible and silly replies. And no they are not piercing holes!!!

I have the holes on the top of both of my ears. I don't know the reason why but my friends always call them my gills... but yea ive had them since i was born

yes i have those too. what i want to know is should i squeeze it out or not? im just scared it might turn into something worse. how do you prevent infection?

you can't prevent an infection just don't fiddle. My son has never had an infection in his.

In my culture, I don't know if it's a joke or not. But it was said that when I was still in my mum's tummy, she was craving chickens. So when she had me, I had those two holes like a chicken. Oh yeah, I'm also born in the Rooster year too. For many years, I always question myself what are those two holes on top of my ears. Sometimes, it will be swollen, so what I've been doing was push out the puss in it. It's puss cause it smells like puss. As the internet is getting bigger and better, I decided to start looking for answers. I'm the only one among my siblings with these holes. My 15 month old neice is the other one with one on her ear. Though this was somewhat helpful, I'm still looking for answers.

I also have these holes on my ears. I recently had a son and he also has these holes. It might sound crazy but iwhen i was younger i was told if you made an invisible line to connect the two it would form a some type of vail that would allow the person to see things people w/o the holes couldnt. The person with the holes had to be open to this and wanted it to work. Do i beleive it, no. But it sounded good!

It's More of a question. Everyone! What are your beliefs in god? Do you have question pertaining to the bible? Do you believe that it's not entirely true? I'm no atheist by far. I have the same hole on/in my right ear also. My fiancee has one on both. What could this mean? I feel that my life is a cover up for something big don't know what it is but... I can feel something calling me and i am afraid of what it may be! How many of you feel this way and have these holes. Why am i able to do anything after seeing it once? Why don't i sleep? I don't think it's just me!

Heya, i am 24 and i have got holes on both my ears. I often have had puss come out of mine but never thought of been an infection as they have done this for the majority of my life.
I dont believe that we heal faster, will down or never break bones as i have fractured my ankle and i bruise like a peach, i probably will drown and im not the bestest swimmer but non of these are linked to the holes.

I have been looking on the net also for answer but most of the website i have been on are all in medical terms and can be very confusing.

There actually called Preauricular Sinuses, if you go onto you tube and type in preauricular sinus infection it shows you why we have these hole and what and infection is like.

Well I know this post is dated and I know there are many answers that can come from this, and I took a look at the link that one of the users posted for the medical explanation of the "holes" but something about that seems weird too.... sinuses?? removed??? I have two of them on both side of my ears and im 22 years old...the strange smell only come from one side which is the right side, and i try to keep them clean. I've heard some refer to them as "angel holes". idk im just still kind of up in the air about the hole thing,,,,,,,

i have the little holes in both of my ears, i have never broke a bone in my body, i heal extremely fast and i am never ill. i am 28 years old and cant remember the last time i went to the doctors or used medicines. i think the white stuff coming out is strange and i have never had this, however i am glad others have the holes because i have never met anyone with them

I also have a hole on top of the ear, but I have on top of each ear. My youngest son also has both, one grandson and my youngest sister's children all 4 of them have one. From mine white stuff comes out when I squeeze so I always keep it clean. I do think it is genetic.

Try to avoid touching them. Squeeze them out if you have to but just make sure that you keep the area clean. At the very first sign of irritation CLEAN THEM. Use 3% hydrogen peroxide and a q-tip. MY sister and I do this and it works great.

Hey! I have these wholes too. They would fill with puss when I was younger and my mother would drain them. They were actually inactive until last night for almost twelve years! I've been under a lot of stress lately which has increased my susceptibility to illness. The one on my left ear is fine but the one on my right ear is completely swollen and my ear is blocked. It hurts so badly that I've been taking Tylenol (which I RARELY ever take, I prefer natural remedies). I've been trying to drain it myself but it's not working ) : I don't have health insurance and prefer to never go to the doctor unless it is an emergency. However, this is such a rare condition that it is difficult to find healing information on it... Any ideas are much appreciated thank you.

I also have one my wife has one on the same side as i do and my son has one on each side it skiped my first child as well as i am the only of my mothers children that got it from her but no one in my wifes family that she knows of has one and although i have no had any broken bones nore has my wife im not so sure about the healing faster powers and alien abductions but what i do know is having it sucks no matter how special it makes you as an individual and no matter where you read it's all a guess because ever doctor who has seen it still can't explain it and i don't thing i want to be the first have them poke and prode at to find out so for those that do have one if you get a serious answer let me know please

i have the holes in my ears. and they drain like others have said. my korean mom says that people with these holes are thought to be highly intellectual.

personally, i think that those holes are scent glands. something from our more animalistic days when we would mark territory or were identified by smell instead of names. everyone used to have them, but as we have stopped that behavior, the glands have slowly disappeared in most of society. but for some reason, we few hold on to them.

mine have become infected twice. and the pain is not localized to the hole. it goes all the way down the side of my face.

yes, we are different in some way. my mind thinks differently than the majority of people. i am highly creative and artistic. and people are drawn to me even though i don't really foster relationships very well.

hey, i as a child had a friend, i noticed he had a little hole which looked like a needle incision almost, i always looked at it and though it looked unatural. Then a couple years ago i was shocked to notice i had one in the same spot on my upper ear. I just showed my parents and i did not have it at birth. I want to think its some bug bite or something but i just dont know.

I have them too, my brother has one and i have them in both ears. Niether one of our children have them but my mother did. The one on my right i would squizz and it finally stopped producing that puss. the one on my left continues to stay the same size and has never decreased.
