bleeding a lot after intercourse

After intercourse (around ovulation) I have begun bleeding quite a lot and it is bright red. I am concerned about what it could be and if it is serious. I am trying to conceive and have been off the pill for 4 months and have had regular 33 day cycles since. please help!

Go and see your doctor, it might be an erosion on your cervix, or maybe a slight infection.

Thanks for replying, I have had cervical erosion before and had it related but don't remember bleeding this heavily. I will go to my doctor to be checked out.

It seems odd that you have post coital bleeding at the time of ovulation and at no other times following intercourse.

If this is the case then it is probably hormonal and of no great significance or danger.

However, if you bleed at other times of your cycle after intercourse, then this might indicate a cervical erosion or perhaps a polyp and you should see your GP.

Definitely see your GP. Something similar happened to me and my GP referred me to the hospital. Don't take any chances.
