Date for my colonoscopy
5 Answers
Hi there I finally have a date for my colonoscopy. Friday 14th December. I have to take something called creamalax, anyone here had that one. I will be taking sedation. A bit nervous about it but it is at 8am so hopefully I will be home by lunchtime.

Understandingly you are anxious at the moment about it but it will coe round quickly and come the 14th, you'll be in and out in no time. It's a good thing that you're in at 8.00am as first thing and probably fisrt to be in surgery.
Try not to worry and I hope all goes well for you on the day. :0)
p.s The cremalax is a constipation treatment that is common to be prescribed to patients after a colonoscopy....the Dr will tell you more after the surgery.
All the very best, gordie

I've had two of these. They're not as bad as you may think. Indeed, the worse thing is the 'cleaning out' process you have to do the day before. And that's not too terrible, either, nowadays. Picolax has gone out of use, the ones they give you are far less 'explosive'. I'm guessing that's what the Creamolax is for.
The staff who are around these things are fully aware of the total lack of dignity that the procedure imposes. In my case, they've given me underpants with a hole in the back to wear. And they really treat you like a grown-up. They'll explain just what's going on all the time. Indeed, if you ask them, they'll let you watch the screen they're looking at! I did and it's fascinating.
You'll be given some relaxing drugs. They make it so easy and you won't remember much about it afterwards. However, they won't let you go home until quite a while after the procedure. I'd take a book if I were you. And I had to sign a disclaimer when I wanted to leave without somebody with me. They like you to have a minder, as it were.
Above all, any problem in that area is best treated as early as possible, so it's well worth having it done.
Good luck to you.
