Well, this week has been a bit of a revelation getting used to walking with a stick and attitudes (or ignorance!) towards people who do.

Had some very frustrating moments in the week but yesterday was the hardest. I had a bad fall on a bus getting to work, went flying and a very nice man helped pick me up.

I later went to meet friends in a coffee shop who were running behind and I had to leave and go somewhere else I could sit as it was so busy and I couldn't stand and wait so missed out.

I later went to Aldi which was a nightmare, trying to balance a basket with other bags then were wew boxes and pallets and people moving stuff all around the place so kept getting blocked to get round and being completely ignored. My hips got so painful I got down to a quieter section then my bag strap broke and I had to lurk there for about 15 minutes before I could get the pain to settle enough to try and tie my bag so carryable and get through the checkout to a very stroppy cashier who wasn't very helpful.

Had to get my friend to come rescue me rather snivly and freezing on a bench outside to get some more bits so I wouldn't need to leave the house today and help me get on the bus home.

Had to wait for the crush of people getting on to go down then there were no seats downstairs so stood there looking pathetic (while everyone put their heads down) then was about to go to get back off and wait for another bus until a nice man got up to let me have a seat.

Needless to say I am staying safely indoors today!

Jenna, that was a bad day, hope things get better for you and you can get used to that stick.
Jenna, what a nightmare - you do well to stay in , keep warm and rest up, there are so many lovely people but equally many who fail to see the stick and what it may mean for the user.

I use one and also have a small white symbol cane, which I have given up using as no one knows what it means, thank goodness for your friends - stay safe and warm sweetheart.
sensible choice -sounds as though everything happened to you in one day but at least things didn't spread over and spoil two days !. Hope you get to feel better soon Jenna 1978
How horrible for you. Can you do an online shop until you get a bit better?
What's a white symbol cane, mamya ?.

What a bad day for you, I cannot understand people being so thoughtless.

I hope things get better for you.

Thanks all x I have some amazing friends, I'm very lucky :) Am curled up snug with the cat with the heating on and some chicken noodle soup, got some good rest today though my hips are still so painful. Just trying to get in as comfortable a position as possible and stay there.

I'm going to look into online shopping, it's only me at home (and the cat) so need to check if I can get enough for it. Going to go for heavier bulkier stuff like cat food and cordial. A lot of the food I buy is fresh like salad, wraps and such so harder to get loads in advance due to dates. Can stock up on heavy stuff though and get loads of loo rolls and such in too.

If I can get out tomorrow my friend is going to help me go rucksack shopping and I know she will help me with some food shopping if I ask her.

Some people are lovely mamya, just seems so many round here are just too busy and preoccupied with doing their own thing to make life easier for people who are struggling.
sorry Jenna
Ah right mamya, thanks. sorry Jenna.

Not at all mamya :) It's good for people to know x
My best ally is my eldest Grandson, he has no inhibitions being autistic...he announces loudly (well shouts) 'Blind Grandma coming through, shift!'. I try to tell him not to as I am not but he winks and says 'they moved Gran'.
I hope you can work round things like heavy shopping and better access, as long as you don't let it curb your freedom.
Clever lad mamya, it works doesn't it.
Sure does yes.
Sorry to hear you are having such a rubbish time, doesn't help that everywhere is so busy at the moment. The minimum spend for Asda home shopping is £25 but the is a delivery fee on top. The fee varies so it's cheaper if you book an unpopular slot (eg Wednesday evening is £3.00 but Saturday morning is £5.50).
Jenna so sorry, rubbish day, thank heavens for that nice man xx
Also if you are a first time shopper, most if not all are after your custom and are giving money off first orders. I have gone from one to the other to save costs.

Thank you x Some people are lovely! Sadly though many just tend to watch you suffer or ignore you. The man who picked me up on the bus was so lovely :) I've been having a look on supermarket sites. Asda seems much more user friendly than Tesco to find things and only £3.50 for a weekday evening.
