Thrush Problems (Men)

Over the past two years I have had about 10 thrush infections and the first time I went to see my GP he gave me a cream called Clotrimazole which cleared it up pretty quickly then a few months later it came back and so on.

Surely this shouldn't he happening so much? my fitness is good, my diet is good, I am hygienic, shower twice a day and don't use harsh shower gels (I used Sanex)

I was advised about heat in the groin area so I started wearing less tight boxer shorts but they just keep coming back and my GP just keeps giving me the same thing.

If any could give any advice, I would appreciate it.

It could be to do with diet. Cut back on anything that encourages yeast - sugar, beer etc

1% Clotrimazole cream is a multi-purpose anti-fungal cream that's used for athlete's foot, ringworm, jock itch, thrush and many other fungal infections. If it's not working, your doctor might prescribe Fluconazole (although your pharmacist can provide you with products containing it without a prescription anyway):

I think I will go see my GP tomorrow Buenchico and get some advice from him and i'll go from there.

Have you a regular partner, and have they been treated too? Also a live bio yoghurt such as yakultan help rid you of the bacteria that cause the flare ups.

I don't have a partner at the moment no, but I will pick up some Yakult up tomorrow from Asda :)

If you are having reccurrent attacks of thrush infection of the penis, then you need to return to your GP for swab analysis of the penile lesions and blood tests to exclude diabetes and other underlying blood abnormalities which may give a lead to your recurrent infections.

Did your doc do a test for diabetes? Its a common side effect, the sugar in the urine being a perfect breeding ground for bacteria.

Used to have this. Diabetes type 2. Now controlled and therefore no thrush.
