Not Giving Results. . .

Just rang up for my heart scan result and the receptionist said I'll have to make an appt to see the Dr as they're not medically qualified to give report results over the phone.

I'm pretty sure when I've phoned in the past, they've always given me my result. I'm worrying now that something has showed up and now I've got the whole weekend to worry.

Is it usual that they don't give the result? Or do you reckon something has showed up?

If something had shown up, your doc would have been on the phone to you. x
Don't be worrying. A receptionist wouldn't be able to explain what was in a report. Talking with the doctor seems the sensible way.
Yes,Alba is right.
They would have rang you straight away if it was serious.
The receptionist is totally correct. Don't read anything untoward into it, it's pretty much standard procedure.
agree with Albs...
I've worried like you in the past but the receptionist has never given me results, even of simple tests, over the phone. It's normal.
As sandy says don't worry. I've spent quite a bit of time at the Doctors and being tested for different things and they've never given me any results over the phone, just a request to make an appointment to see the doctor.
I agree with Alba, if there was anything really worrying, they would have contacted you and not waited for you to call.
Try and not worry too much! i rang doctor for my results to my diabetic tolerance test and secretary wouldnt tell me anything. Had to go to doctors for a chat. It all turned out well x

Thanks guys. I had the test at the beginning of the month so I would was thinking that I would have received a letter from the GP asking me to go in if anything showed up.

I have this test every 2 years and I don't ever remember having to go see the GP for the result.

Anyway thanks again, I'll go on Monday.
receptionist think themselves Gods gift to Doctors and they seem to be all female why not male receptionists? Is it Doctors think patients can have something nice to look at if that is the case then thinks have not progressed for womens rights at all
i would think it's because GP receptionist jobs are almost exclusively part time, and more women work part time than men (to fit in round childcare) They are also low paid (probably just above minimum wage). Lastly, i would imagine (as with a lot of the NHS) mostly women apply
I have test's every month - take it from me NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS. Stop worring as there is nothing you can do today, just sit and enjoy the TV. My GP telephoned me directly when my results went aray. Receptionist can only give certain results over the telephone - because they do not understand what they are saying.
The receptionist can't be sure that it's actually you on the end of the phone. Don't worry.
