anyone have any experience of this trial,i have been invited to take part after recent stent operation to test canakinumab.thanks for any info.

No Sqad, i live in Bham uk,had a heart attack in November and stent fitted, had a phone call from the hospital to ask would i go on this trial

I would have to give this greater thought before i answer.

Are you on statins, aspirins and a beta blocker?

Was it a heart attack...abnormal enzymes and abnormal ECG or was it an attack of angina?

it was a heart attack.i'm on statins,aspirin ,perindopril,@prasugrel.was taken off beta blocker,it was affecting my asthma.

tt.........you medication is the standard, well established, well researched and gives you the best chance for at least the next 10years for you.

Me?..........I would be very reluctant to enter the trial.

It would seem that the trial only applies to patients who have a raised CRP. following a "heart attack."

A bit late in seeing this but, like sqad had to look it up as I was only aware of this drug being used in arthritis.
CANOS is a international (40 countries) trial to see if the drug canakinumab, which is a monoclonal antibody with anti-inflammatory effects, can reduce the risk of another cardiovascular event happening in the future. Not everyone who has had a heart attack is suitable, only those with raised inflammatory markers (CRP) at the time.
I would not sign up for any trial unless the possible benefits/risks had been fully explained to me.
Have you any written information?
One of the benefits of a trial like this is that you would be closely monitored over the next four years or so.
