Trying To Give Up Smoking

Is there a group on here at all? I did search, but cannot find one.
It's day 15 for me, and I've come very close to breaking down and lighting up, but just typing this has helped me to see the folly of my ways!
I'm not throwing 15 days away for a fag!
Would be great if there was a cheer squad/support group here, so please point me in the right direction if I've missed it.
Meanwhile, 20 a day at almost 8 quid a pack has saved me £120 already. Unimportant, however when the craving really hits!

Run your fags under the tap (I know you've got a pack of ten stashed away somewhere!) and get rid of your ashtray. In a day or two when a smoker speaks to you or brushes past you will realise just why you are now a non-smoker, don't forget it!

I would recommend you read ' The Easy way to stop smoking' by Allen Carr the best £7.99 I ever spent

I had tried many, many times after smoking for 30 years before but reading this book helped me to stop with no nicotine replacement/ecigs etc. It's been nearly 7 years now and I'm so happy I did it!! It addresses the issue of addiction and helps you understand what is going on inside your body/head. Keep up the good work!!

C'mon pusskin, that's like saying I'll keep a little bit of high explosive in case I need to get out of the house quickly in an emergency! You don't want to keep the stuff around.
OK, poor analogy I know but it's there if you succumb and feel the need and that won't help in moments of weakness.
I know it's tough, been there and done it and wish you all the best, the benefits are immediate and life changing.
As Mr Churchill once said, if you feel like you're going through hell, keep running!

Well done pusskin, do keep it up and do do as ChillDoubt says and get rid of any stash at all! You need to make it hard to have a cig when your willpower throws a wobbly (as it will from time to time).
I'm on day 18. Feeling good this morning with no desire for a cig at all. Hope this feeling lasts all day!
Thanks again to everyone on this thread for the encouragement. It does help.
