I was in the bath today and it suddently popped into my head my mum singing 'íf you can pinch more than an inch your fat'. Well I looked down and I can pinch probably 1 1/2 inches on my chest area and at least 6 on my stomache!!! I am obese! I am today starting a 3 day fast to kick start this serious regime of food limitation.

A three day fast won't help it'll put your body into starvation mode. Just cut down on all fats a

You won't lose weight by starving yourself, it will just cause you problems, just look at dieting sensibly.

Well I watched a program where a guy starved himself for 3 days and it improved his health. Anyway I am nearly halfway through the morning of my fist day
It's not rocket science - you need a long term strategy based on four words.

Eat less, move more.

I agree hopkirk I do exercise but my diet sucks. I eat rubbish like chip sandwhiches for lunch. I am going to do this 3 day fast every month and intermitant day fasting in between. With this I will stick to whole foods with no MSG!!
I must admit I am really hungry now though.
3 day fasting won't help. As above, it'll just put your body into starvation mode and you'll start storing fat.
There's a new diet craze around at the moment, that says "fasting" for two days a week has loads of health benefits. Thinks it's 2.1 diet?
Anyway, it's not actually fasting, it's just having two days with a low cal diet. I'm not so sure myself. I don't think it's sustainable.
Start off with a ban on chip butties!

it's the 5:2 diet (5 days normal. 2 days "fasting") or intermittent fasting. On the 2 days tyou have 5 or 600 calories

Actually, the op is generally quite a confusing person. First it was kebab meat sandwiches in Spain (where he lives) now he appears to have moved to France and is scoffing down chip sarnies.

I just can't keep up!

Yes 100% male last time I checked. I only had the kebab sandwiches twice to be honest atter that was just chips as I stay away from meat apart from the odd few times when I eat with colleagues. Probably even worse just chips as more fat I guess. I live on the spain/ france border maybe thats where you are getting mixed up?

Yeah we'll I am generally vegetarian just a few times I ate meat recently was the 2 times mentioned and Christmas lunch. You can still call yourself Christian if you skip church a few times right :)
So you're not a vegetarian then....

If you are going to do the 5:2 diet,then I suggest you read up on it first. It i, not *starvation*,the days do not need to be consecutive...and it's not 3...and the point is that you eat healthily at all times.
I think Pasta has given you some really important advice there... read up on it!
I've heard numerous people saying they're doing this 'fasting for two days' diet, and saying how they can eat "whatever they want" for the other 5 days. That's never gonna work.
