I was in the bath today and it suddently popped into my head my mum singing 'íf you can pinch more than an inch your fat'. Well I looked down and I can pinch probably 1 1/2 inches on my chest area and at least 6 on my stomache!!! I am obese! I am today starting a 3 day fast to kick start this serious regime of food limitation.

Yes I have read this. Thanks pasta. I just want to do this 3 day fast first to demonstrate my control over my eating habits. I am really hungry now though. I'm going to have a cup a soup if I can find some just before bed time.
I think that's the thing. Not everyone will react the same to certain diets or 'fads'. I did no carbs for over a year (old style Atkins), until I realised I was starving myself of essential vitamins from fruit and vegetables. I also gave myself a few health issues as a consequence. Not really worth it in the end.

That's how eating disorders develop.

Not eating for 3 days is not demonstrsating control...it will just leave your body needing nutrients,and you will probably want even more food at the end of it. And cuppasoup? Noooo-it's full of salt.You would have been better making a proper chicken stock which would be full of nutrients. Have you really thought this out properly?
I do low carb,MM-and it's worked well for me for over 2 years. And I really enjoy my food-lots of veggies,and berries-which I love.

I'm just doing what the guy did on the tv.michael Mosley that is. Apparently it helps towards longevity too
Unfortunately, Pasta, I cut out all fruits and veg, and literally just lived off meat and dairy. My cholesterol and BP went through the roof and I was not very healthy at all.

I am a sucker for all that stuff. Even today I still eat goji berries!!
This 5:2 diet works for people that don't eat crap. Just maybe too much of good food.

I read years ago that people who naturally feast and fast tend to be much slimmer. What it really means is people who feast and fast eat when they are hungry. Some days we're just not hungry, so eat less. I never restrict what I eat but I can go days with living on not much, but I don't eat crap.

It'll be no good for the OP then. He eats kebab and chip sandwiches! Lol

I think the research that lead to this is based on studies of people who fast natually.

honeydip...you are NOT doing it the way Michael reccomends if all you eat is a cup a soup.

To be honest I was going to possibly eat a sweet potatoe we have at home before bed to fill me up a bit. And maybe same tomorrow and thursday

Honeydip, you are just making up your own diet as you go along.
As Pasta says, what's the point in asking for advice and suggestions, if this is what you're going to do?

Go ahead, have that sweet potato. Make it last for three whole days.
Hey, why not go mad and throw in some chips... or kebab meat.

I know it's not how he rec on ends it but it's how he did it on the tv
MM restricted his calories to around 600 on two days a week only. I have the cut out diet from the paper that he has put his name to.
